Free
care is a safety net for low-income uninsured and underinsured
people in Massachusetts. The Uncompensated Care Pool pays
for Medically necessary services that acute hospitals
and community health centers provide to people who are
eligible for Free Care. Free Care for medically necessary
services is available to Massachusetts residents who meet
the eligibility criteria. Non-residents are eligible for
Free care for emergency care and urgent care services
only.

apply for Free Care at FHCW, please see one of our Free
Care representatives, Monday-Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm.
When
applying for Free Care, please bring:
1.
A copy of picture identification
AND:
2. (all that apply)
- Proof of Massachusetts residency
- Unemployment check receipt
- Copy of social security check or letter from bank showing
the deposit
- W2 or tax return
- Paycheck stubs (2)
- Copy of Medicaid check
- Copy of Workman's compensation check
- If someone else provides your room and board you must
produce a notarized letter from that person stating this.
- Proof of United States citizenship
