WIC

Family Health Center operates the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program for the Greater Worcester area.  Our professional staff offer supplemental nutrition, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low income pregnant women, women who have just given birth, and infants and children up to five years of age who are subject to nutritional risk.

Services Available

  • Personalized nutrition information, consultations and support
  • Free healthy food
  • Tips for eating well to improve health
  • Referrals for medical and dental care, health insurance, child care, housing and fuel assistance, and other services that can benefit the whole family

But that’s not all! WIC also offers immunization screening and referral, breastfeeding support, and nutrition and health workshops on a variety of topics including meal planning, maintaining a healthy weight, picky eaters, caring for a new baby, and shopping on a budget.

Who is WIC for?

WIC is a free program that provides healthy foods and nutrition and health information to Massachusetts’ families who qualify. WIC is for all kinds of families: married and single parents, working or not working. If you are a father, mother, grandparent, foster parent or other legal guardian of a child under 5, you can apply for WIC for your child.

You can participate in WIC if you:

  • Live in Massachusetts
  • Have a nutritional need (WIC staff can help you determine this)
  • Are a child under 5, a new mom, or a pregnant or breastfeeding woman
  • Have a family income less than WIC guidelines (Income Guidelines)

In order to protect the health of our clients, the WIC Program is offering services remotely by phone until further notice. Please do not go to the office in person. For questions, please call the office.
