Hadwen Arboretum #9, Lora Brueck

I started to appreciate trees when I moved into the Worcester from the country twenty years ago.  When I lived in the woods, I took trees for granted because of their shear number.  Now I understand how precious each individual tree is, providing cooling, filtering, and aesthetic qualities—light and shadow. The image I have submitted to Art in the City is from a series I did in Hadwen Arboretum on May Street, behind Fairlawn Hospital several years ago. I was still doing film photography then and used my Holga (plastic camera) which imparted even more of an ancient mystical feeling to the sadly neglected woods.
